[edit] Biography
The largest indie label in the UK, Sanctuary was formed in 1976 by Iron Maiden's managers and, in fact, named after an Iron Maiden song. Much of their artists are acts with long-term appeal, which sometimes gives them the image of being the label that folks go to when their careers are over, but that's not necessarily true. Sanctuary tends to give their artists more free reign to do the records they want, feeling that they've established themselves and have the right to do purer artistic work.
