Searchlight Rag is a ragtime musical arrangement for the piano composed by Scott Joplin in the United States during the early 1900s. The music became popular and eventually was considered among one of the the best ragtime compositions available during that time. It was featured as the theme song for Roller Coaster Tycoon.
The sheet music for this arrangement is primarily in B flat major. The tempo is predominately moderately fast and features syncopated rhythm throughout the entire piece. As with all ragtime compositions, the marching tempo should remain constant and must not exceed Allegro. The entire music consists of four different sections which can be marked with notations ABAC. Section A represents the beginning section. Section B stands for the middle section and while C symbolizes the last section of the piece which is commonly known as the Trio.
