Sebastian is the debut single by Cockney Rebel. It is taken from their album The human menagerie. In fact, Steve Harley, leader of the music group, already had only traces in the music world when he earned early 1970s founded Cockney Rebel . The band played out in extravagant and doste glamrock /decadent clothes. The popularity of this British band's origin left in own country somewhat in coming, but (at the time only West) Europe picked up the music immediately showed from the beginning on. Harley only megalomania; He regarded Cockney Rebel as a vehicle for his music in the world to play in. Later it became a real band Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel. The song has many bombastic song and Ditto orchestration, the role of the guitar was subordinate in Cockney Rebel. Where the song forty years later (2011) is still not known, the refrain doesn't seem to fit in with other text, otherwise that Harley themselves (like) saw as the "Adored" (meaning of the name Sebastian).

The music is a continuation of the tradition that David Bowie and Roxy Music (Bryan Ferry) have deployed, also the careers show some similarity. Singers were simple-born star.

B-side was Rock and roll parade (2: 54), to suit the compact disc Edition of The human menagerie got some notoriety as a bonus track. Sebastian hitparades only in the Dutch got Judy Teen and Make me smile as successors.
