One of the most influential and shortest lived of the UK Punk bands, the Sex Pistols are often called the founders of punk (though most people hand that mantle to the Ramones, who'd been around before the Sex Pistols were a gleam in Malcolm McLaren's eye). Still, though -- despite their appearance and image, they were talented musicians and had a knack for pop hooks. The band ended up imploding after 2 years and change, though they reformed in the 1990s, and again in 2002, and occasionally tour and play live shows.
