Sloop John B is a number from 1966 , appearing on the album Pet Sounds by the American rock band The Beach Boys . As a single-hit reached the first place of many charts around the world.The Netherlands was in the Beach Boys best-selling recording. In 1966 it was the first place in the annual review.

The lyrics of the song appeared known for the first part of the novel, Pieces of Eight by Richard Le Gallienne 1917. If the song is probably the first time put on record in1935 by the "Cleveland Simmons Group", under the title "Histe Up The John B Sail". In the same year appeared a recording of "The Weavers" titled "Wreck of the John B".Under that name the song include also recorded by The Kingston Trio in 1958. Johnny Cash recorded the song in 1959 called "I Want to Go Home."
