Sonny Boy Williamson II (GlendoraMississippi5 december 1899 – HelenaArkansas25 may 1965) was an American blues musician. [1he was known as Sonny Boy Williamson, Sonny Boy Williamson II, Willie Williamson, Willie Miller, Little Boy Blue, The Goat and Footsie.

Sonny Boy Williamson II was an illegitimate son of Millie Ford. Later, he took the surname of his stepfather to Jim Miller. In the 1930s , he performed in Mississippi and Arkansas. He met other musicians such asElmore JamesBig Joe WilliamsRobert Lockwood, Jr. and Robert Johnson.

Williamson had his first radio appearance In 1941. At the time he took to the stage name Sonny Boy Williamson. Because there is already another well-known musician with the same name existed, he is often referred to as Sonny Boy Williamson II.

In 1951, Williamson took his first single "Eyesight to the Blind" was often covered this song on., among other things by The Who.

When Trumpet went bankrupt Records in 1955, came Williamson rightly at Chess Records . At this label he got his greatest fame. Between 1955 and 1964 Williamson took seventy songs for Checker Records, a sister company of Chess Records. Sonny Boy Williamson's first LP, titled "Down and Out Blues", came in 1959 at Checker Records from.
