Syreeta Wright ( August 3, PittsburghLos Angeles1946 - July 5, 2004), also called known as Rita Wright (her stage name from 1967 to 1971) and known professionally as Syreeta, was an American soul singer and song writer.

They actually had the ambition of a ballet career, but by lack of money she could not follow the required training. Therefore she focused on singing. Since her early childhood she was a member of groups, but they earned the costs with Office work. So she was in 1965, as before, Martha Reeves, Secretary at the record companyMotown in "Hitsville USA" in Detroit. Owner Berry Gordy discovered her singing talent and left her in 1967 under the name Rita Wright her first single I Can't Give Back the Love I Feel for You include. Later he chose for her the stage name Syreeta, Zac. She was also a backing singer in that period on various Motown numbers. The confrontation with The Vandellas in I Can't Dance To That Music you're Playing triggered even friction on, because Martha Reeves didn't know that Syreeta's from the show to the recording afterwards falling contribution was added.

Syreeta's biggest hit was a duet with Billy Preston With You I'm Born Again from december 1979, that in the us at number 4 and number 2 in Great Britain ended up in the charts . They took a total of six solo albums on which are all labels of the Motown Group appeared, and two duet albums with Billy Preston and with G.C. Cameron, ex-lead singer of The Spinners. In 1983 appeared The Spell, the last album produced byJermaine Jackson, after which they withdrew gradually from the show business .

Syreeta married after her divorce from Stevie Wonder two more times. With her third husband she got four children. They had themselves then converted from the Baptist faith to islam. Previously she was some time in transcendental meditation teacher in Ethiopia. She died on 57-year-old age to heart failure, caused by chemotherapy to combat breastcancer to which they then suffered.
