Founded in 1985 as a one-off label to release a compilation of TV theme songs (and originally founded as "Tee-Vee Tunes"), TVT ended up being one of the larger indie labels around, thanks in part to its purchase of Wax Trax!, which bought them a lot of industrial acts. Since then, they've expanded much more into rap and hip-hop, although they still have many rock and industrial acts, as well as other groups that might not seem to fit in with what they once were (um, aside from the TV Theme Song thing).
