The Bangles is an American pop and rock band.

The Group was founded in January 1981 by the sisters Vicki and Debbi Peterson Susanna Hoffs and what came later, Annette Zilinskas there. They originally operated under the name The Colors, later that year, this The Bangs, to eventually become The Bangles in 1982. The name was created by sound engineer Erik fisherman who when the sound for them did in the Lhasa Club in Hollywood. In that year, replaced by Michael Steele, Zilinskas ever bass player at The Runaways.

In 1984 the first album appeared All Over The Place, with a first modest hit Going Down To Liverpool. The second album Different Light , however, was the breakthrough.The single Manic Monday, which was composed by Prince under the pseudonym Christopher, was a worldwide hit. With the single " Walk Like an Egyptian did they do it success one more time about it, that song was around the world on number 1. The Bangles were also the first girl group whose members played their own instruments, which took out a number 1 in Netherlands.

The success also fostered Division; Susanna Hoffs was seen as the centerpiece while The Bangles on the first place was a band with multiple which saw essen. With the album Everything from 1988, which produced the hit single Eternal Flame , the rumors that the Group would go apart. At the end of 1989 was the big day; Susanna Hoffs began a solo career and the beginning of 1991 brought an album from My Side of the Bed which became a hit.

However, In 2000 came The Bangles back together and decided the song Get the Girl for the movie Austin PowersThe Spy Who Shagged Me. In 2003, the Album flopped commercially successful but artistically album ' ' from. After Michael left the band in april 2005, the Bangles as a trio on until 31 december 2005 they on their new bass player introduced: Abby Travis (no fixed band member). With this line-up they came to Netherlands in 2008 .

On 27 september 2011, The Bangles released a new album Sweetheart of the Sun.
