The Darkness is an English glam rock band. The band is known for the classic hard rock with a wink proceeds. The Darkness is mainly influenced by bands like AC/DC,Queen and Thin Lizzy. Justin Hawkins sings with a distinctive falsetto.
The brothers Justin and Then Hawkins were sitting on the Kirkley High School in Lowestoft, Suffolk (England). In London they formed together with their old friends Frankie Poullain and Ed Graham the band. On a new year's Party was so impressed with Justin's view of Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody that Justin immediately to frontman was bombarded.
In 2003 appeared the debut album Permission To Land. The album quickly climbed to the upper echelons of the British charts and earned the band several Brit Awardson. Frankie Poullain left the band In 2005 during the recording of the second album One Way Ticket to Hell ... And Back, said he was forced to leave. The second album fared not nearly as good as the first.
In 2004 The Darkness won a European Border Breakers Award. The European Border Breakers Awards are awarded to ten emerging artists who made their successful previous year outside their own national borders.
The initial success of the band Justin Hawkins did no good. He became addicted to alcohol and cocaine. This forced The Darkness cancel several gigs. After he was cleaned up, he left the band in 2006
In February 2007 , it was announced that the band is going to make a new start under the name Stone God, bassist Richie Edwards took over the vocals for his account, in which Toby MacFarlaine started as a bass player.  on december 9, 2010, Toby Macfarlaine twittered that the Stone God's from each other.
After Justin Hawkins left The Darkness he has founded the band Hot Leg.
On 15 March 2011 was official announced that The Darkness is back together, and in full original line-up.
