The Fixx was a British band from the 1980s, best known for their hit song "One thing leads to another" from 1983. Their music can be categorized under new wave . Among the general public, however, they have never had great success. Although of British descent, they were most popular in the United States and Canada.
The forerunner of the Group was called The Portraits. This band was founded by lead singer Cy Curnin and drummer Adam Woods. With keyboardist Rupert Greenall, guitarist Tony MGrail and bassist Charlie Barret they released on Ariola two little successful singles. McGrail left the band in 1980 and was by Jamie West-Oram of The Doll replaced. Their single "Lost Planes" from 1981, under the name The Fix, got limited attention of the BBC, which earned them a contract with MCA Records . They changed their name to The Fixx in order to avoid associations with drug abuse.
Before their first album, Shuttered Room from 1982, left Barret the group. They were the songs "Stand or Fall" and "Red Skies", the only songs by The Fixx ever ended up in the British charts. The Fixx did on 4 July 1982 a short, but produced a good performance at the second implementation of Parkpop in the Hague. For their second album, Reach the Beach, on which ' One thing leads to another ', was Alfie Agius the new bassist; However, he soon left.
The B-side ' Are we Ourselves "from 1984, as soundtrack for Streets of Fire used, and" A Letter to Both Sides ' from 1985 became the soundtrack for Fletch. React, their album from 1987, was a flop, which led to the cancellation of their contract with MCA. In 1988 they released Calm Animals out on RCA Records, before once again in 1991, on MCA, Ink back.
