Band BiographyEdit

A novelty project of the 1990s, Brian Kehew and Roger Joseph Manning, Jr. were fans of vintage synthesizers as well as the old Moog records of the 1960s and 1970s, where musicians intent on cashing in on the new fad of synthesizers would record the hits of the day (and various other genres -- albums like Nashville Moog and The Cow Goes Moog (hinging on a mispronounciation of "Moog", for exmaple -- of course, the brilliant and respected Switched-On Bach started the fad with Wendy Carlos' inspired re-imagining of classical pieces). Most of those records weren't really very good, but some contained some real gems. The two musicians and instrument collectors had the idea to update the concept for the 1990s, recording Moog versions of the hits of the day (including Weezer's Buddy Holly and Neil Young's Rockin' In The Free World). As a follow-up, they recorded an album of classic rock hits, typically from an era that was just outside the purvey of the original Moog records. Now, the Moog Cookbook does remixes for other bands and the occasional new song. No reports of a third album have come out.
