The Power Station was a largely British-American rockband with influences, formed in late 1984. The group consisted of singer Robert Palmer, bassist John Taylor, guitarist Andy Taylor (both Duran Duran) and Chic drummer Tony Thompson. Another ChicMember who was involved in this project, Bernard Edwards, who was signed for the production for the album called "The Power Station" (EMI 1985).

The Group owes its name to the New York recording studio "The Power Station" where the entire album is included.

The Group had in Netherlands 1 hit single titled "Some Like It Hot" in March 1985 that reached the thirteenth place in the Dutch Top 40.

Singer Robert Palmer remained after this project work with producer Bernard Edwards for his album "Riptide" that was a huge hit, especially in the United States thanks to the song "Addicted To Love" reached the number 1 position and for which he also received a Grammy Award .

After the success of the debut album the band went on tour; a few days before the start, however, Robert Palmer pulled back. With Michael Des Barres replacing joined the group among other things on during the Live Aidconcert in Philadelphia. In 1996 the Group again to record a second album together, entitled Living in Fear (Chrysalis 1996) on. now it's John Taylor who step from the band during the recording. His place is taken by producer/bassist Bernard Edwards, who dies shortly after the appearance of the album. The remaining band members often act without the success afterwards, from the 80s to match. A few years later death both singer Robert Palmer as drummer Tony Thompson.
