The Professionals were an English punk rock band. The band was formed in 1979 by Paul Cook, ex-drummer of the Sex Pistols and Steve Jones, ex-guitarist of the Sex Pistols. The band was formed after the latter disbanded band.

In their four-year existence, they released two albums, where four singles by came out. Only with 1, 2, 3 they took the charts, especially in the United Kingdom. Other singles were Just Another DreamThe Magnificent and Join The Professionals. The latter was covered by the Exposies.

In 1982, after their second tour in the United States they got a car accident. Only Jones was not there and that took care of difficulties and the fact that Jones remained in the US while the rest of the band pulled back to England , were probably the reasons for the removal of the band.

In 2005 there was a Best Ofalbum by The Professionals, called The Best Of The Professionals .
