The The is a new wave English -and alternative-rock band that has existed since 1979. The occupation has varied over the years. The only constant in the group is the leader and founder of the group Matt Johnson.

After a unreleased album came in 1981 the first album of the group, then still under the name of Matt Johnson. In 1993, this album would be Burning Blue Soul, again to be released, but now under The name The The. In 1983 broke The The world-wide by with their second album, Soul Mining. The Group sold millions of albums since then, and made 10 more albums.

The most famous hit of the group is Uncertain Smile from 1983, submitted by Soul Mining. The song is especially famous for the piano solo by Jools Holland.
