This is a rarities collection, taken mostly from their TMBG Unlimited online mp3 thing, Long Tall Weekend, Working Undercover For The Man and the McSweeney's disc, so if you've got those, you probably don't need this (except for "Disappointing Show", which is a one-off live joke track. But it's funny. And if you've got all that stuff, you're probably an obsessive fan anyway, so you probably paid 25 bucks for it at a show like a jerk, when they would re-issue it on Rounder for just 12 bucks or so, just like I did...). It's not terribly essential, but there's some great stuff on here (but also some stuff that's sorta passable. Apparently, "All Alone" is the radio single for this record, which is just baffling to me, as that's, um, not.... really very radio-friendly or sense-making removed from the context of the science show it was recorded for. Anyway, though, probably not a good place to start, but hey, I can't disrecommend anything that's got "Certain People I Could Name" on it, so... - Rev. Syung Myung Me
