Tinseltown in the rain is a single by The Blue Nile. It is taken from their album A walk across the rooftops. The town of tinsel (tinsel) is in this case the Scottish Glasgow. The writer trying to find love in a city full of asphalt. The band had it not financially during their best start. The members had to practice at home, especially in the narrow House of Paul Buchanan. A striking feature of the song is the sustained rhythmic riff in the background. The song sold well for a long time, but just too little to scoring high in the charts. Andrea Corr, of Irish origin and one of The Corrs recorded it for her album Lifelines.
