[edit] Band Biography
Tom Waits started as a troubadour-type of musician, doing relatively straight blues-styled stuff, with a bit of a country tinge, although he grew into a more Captain Beefheart/Howlin' Wolf inspired delivery with darker songs that were frequently more mature and had a greater depth of emotion. After he grew tired of Island, in what was considered a strange and interesting move, he signed with the Punk label Epitaph.
