Michael Sandison and Marcus Eoin, the Scottish duo that makes up Boards of Canada, have received their fair share of scrutiny over their last outing The Campfire Headphase and basically anything else released post-Music has the Right to Children. Notorious for their long pauses between officially released material, BoC take less than 8 months to release this mini-concept LP/EP soundtracking their trek from Newfoundland to Victoria. Echoing back more towards Geogaddi than Campfire, fans disappointed by the latter may find slight reconciliation with this outing. Mellow ambient-techno laced with subtle melodies and ghostly effects make up the 30 minutes of music, which seems like just enough time for BoC to make their mark without exhausting the listener. Anticon’s apparently heavily sought after producer Odd Nosdam also remixes Dayvan Cowboy into 9 minutes of beatless ambience only making noise during a brief climax 5 minutes deep into the song.
