Band Biography
Gary Numan's early backing band had some success and a classic album with Replicas. Gary Numan and Paul Gardiner were the only two permanent members, though Jess Lidyard played on the two LPs (and was also Gary Numan's uncle). For the singles, they had a changing lineup. In 1979, Jess Lidyard left the band, and Gary Numan started putting out records under his own name, rather than as a band. Paul Gardiner stayed with Numan until his death in 1982.
