"Tunnel of Love" is a 1980 single by the British rock band Dire Straits. The song first appeared on the album Making Movies. Furthermore, it appeared on the Alchemylive albums and Live at the BBC and the greatest hits albums Money for NothingSultans of Swing: The Very Best of Dire Straits and The Best of Dire Straits & Mark Knopfler: Private Investigations .

The song reached only a 54th place in the British charts. The number also in Netherlands came no further than number 4 in the Tipparade. It is only one of the three numbers that are not entirely written by Mark Knopfler . It describes the former amusement park "The Spanish City" in Whitley Bay on the North Sea coast, North of Marks birthplace Newcastle upon Tyne.
