Underworld is a British band that deals with producing techno music.

The band consists of Karl Hyde and Rick Smith. For 2000 also made part of Underworld Darren Emerson . Darren Emerson was involved in the mixing sessions. Rick Smith is the musical engine that produces and writes the music nowadays. Karl Hyde is responsible for the vocals and the creative output of the band.

In the early 1980s were Hyde and Smith also responsible for the project "Freur", a synthpopband which grew out of the new wavescene. Freur made for years beforePrince did use of a symbol as name. The symbol is a kringelend line that still most closely resembles a hieroglyph from the Maya time. For business reasons, they have subsequently decided to to this symbol to add the sound "Freur". Freur has had a minor hit with the single "Doot Doot" that came out in 1983. In 1986 , the project stopped, after which Hyde and Smith founded in 1987 Underworld. The track "Doot Doot" is still appeared on the soundtrack to the film "Vanilla Sky".

It was also suggested that in 1996 Hyde the idea to set up a commercial Office artwork . This resulted in June 1997 in the creation of Tomato, which has collaborated withLevi's and Pepsi. Hyde and Smith are currently joint Director of the creative Department of Tomato.

Since late 2000s is Hyde the spokesman for Underworld as a band.

The largest underground hit of Underworld is ' Born Slippy.NUXX ", used in the soundtrack of the film Trainspotting. In 2007 , the single Crocodile the first position of theWhooping 40 and stays there four weeks.

In 2008 the band worked and other famous artists from the USA, the United KingdomCanada and South Africa to the album Songs for Tibet, a statement of support toTibet and dalai lama Tenzin Gyatso. Songs for Tibet appears at the same time as the 2008 Summer Olympics in the People's Republic of China whose opening on 8 August takes place: the album will be released on August 5, via iTunes , and from 12 August through music stores around the world. Since the invasion of Tibet in 1950-1951 China occupied the country with-according to critics-a widespread political, religious and cultural oppression. [1]

In May 2010 the single Scribble , Scribble is created in collaboration with High Contrast, a drum 'n' bass DJ from Cardiff, and contains multiple samples of Let It Ride by Todd Terry (an acid house track from 1999)
