History[Edit]Edit

Earth & Fire played from the beginning mainly progressive rock. However, in giving singles turned out to be the combined progressive rock and pop music to connect together fine. The singles had invariably success with Memories. The band jogged a bit away, but came in 1979 with the album Reality Fills Fantasy, a mixture of progressive rock and pop music. People Come, People Go was the suite, the rest consisted of relatively short numbers. Between those numbers was the inconspicuous track Weekend, a chicken-feed of less than four minutes. The choice for the first single fell on that number.

' Weekend ', written by Gerard Koerts, is a story about a person, who sees his/her beloved only during the weekend. That did not apply for the bunch Jerney Kaagmanand Bert Ruiter which when both were in the band. The AVRO Toppop made a video clip in which K (at least according to the then standards) sultry and provocative and sexy tight dressed (design Carla V.) the camera looked. Radio Veronica appointed it to alarm disc and the song came the Dutch Top 40 and the National hit parade within;in both lists took it the No. 1 position. GermanySwitzerlandPortugal and Denmark followed, in Austria it came no further than place 14.

The instrumental b-side was Answer Me (5: 16) of the same LP. The cover is apart from the title similar to that of the LP.
