DOG.: This is another of my all-time favorites and on the short list of best-songs-of-all-time, really. There's actually a hilariously awful cover version by Cerys Matthews from, um, Catatonia, I think, which is just excruciating that she ruined such a wonderful song, but still. The verse about the Indians who got lost and forgot how to make a fire is based in truth; I don't remember the particulars, but basically the lyrics give the rough outline of what you need to know about that story.
