Westlife was an Irish pop group, which was founded on 3 July 1998 by Boyzone singer Ronan Keating, which the Group also as co-manager takes under his wing. In 2012, after a farewell tour the band stopped. [1]

The original band consisted of Nicky ByrneKian EganMark FeehilyShane Filan and Brian McFadden. Filan is the lead singer, although Feehily and McFadden this task in some songs share with him. Some group members can play musical instruments: Egan (drumsguitarpiano), McFadden (guitar, piano) and Feehily (tin whistle, piano). All of them are lyricist, although their most hits by other writers were composed. On 9 March 2004 McFadden left the band to spend more time with his family and to be able to work on a solo career. The remaining members continued with the group, whereby a Quartet was born.

Westlife in the United Kingdom has 14 number-one-hits to get know and is in third place in that country, shared with Cliff Richard, behind Elvis Presley and The Beatles. The Group was less popular In Netherlands and is the song Uptown Girl (cover of the song by Billy Joel) have been the biggest hit: it allowed 12 weeks in the Dutch Top 40, and reached at its peak the 3rd position.

Biography[Edit]Edit

Creation (1998)[Edit]Edit

For the creation of Westlife made Egan, Filan and Feehily along with the in Sligo born Derrick Lacey, Graham Keighron and Michael "Miggles" Garrett part of the six-Member singing group "IOYOU" (sometimes abbreviated as "IOU"). Choreographer Mark McDonagh was with two others the manager of the Group and their first single was called Together Girl ForeverLouis Walsh, the manager of the 1990s boy band Boyzone, was informed by Filans mother of the band. Because Simon Cowell 's IOYOU got no approval for a recording contract with BMG, it was clear that changes had to be made. Two members of IOYOU auditions were held, and could leave in Dublin where Byrne and McFadden were chosen. Also Michael Garrett, one of the original band members had to leave the group. The new group, which was founded July 3, 1998 , was renamed "West side", but because this name was used by another band, it changed to Westlife. Boyzone singer Ronan Keating took along with Walsh the co-managementschap in itself.

Departure Brian McFadden (2004)[Edit]Edit

On 9 March 2004, the Group has since released five albums and will start their fourth world tour three weeks later to leave the group, Brian McFadden for more time with his family and working on a solo career. On that day a press conference was held in which all band members a personal speech held. McFadden's last performance with Westlife took place on 27 February 2004 in the nightclub "Newcastle Upon Tyne's Powerhouse".Along with songwriter Guy Chambers ( Robbie Williams' known from success album 's Escapology) he then put a solo career on legs under his original name Brian; He always performed with Westlife on as "Bryan". His first single, Real To Me " became a number one hit in the United Kingdom, and was seven weeks in the Dutch Top 40, where it peaked at the 16th position. Shortly thereafter, his first solo album brought McFadden Irish Son, that was also the title of one of his singles. Later, several singles, but these were not a great success. It even led to a breach of contract with Sony BMG, which McFadden fired because of poor sales results of his albums. [2]

In March 2007 it was announced that McFadden back wild times at Westlife, because his solo career was flopped and he was dismissed by his record company. Shane, Mark, Kian and Nicky were know to be responding to each other, that Brian no longer have to come back. [3She explained to New! Magazine right after his departure "changes, allowing them to have another band with other music styles have become. This is no place for Brian ". [4]
