Biography[Edit]Edit

Wheatus was founded in 1995 by singer and guitarist Brendan b. Brown. The Group also included bassist Rich Liegeykeyboardist Philip Jimenez and Browns brother Peter on drums. After six years the Group took his debut album Wheatus , in which the Teenage dirtbag single in Europe was a great success. In the UK Singles Chart British took out the number one second place and in the Flemish Ultratop 50 was even a number one hit. Although the number was at home in Billboard's Hot Modern Rock Tracks, but the popular Hot 100 was not met. Teenage dirtbag was taken from the soundtrack of the movie Loser from 2000, but that movie flopped. The song is better known than the movie.

At the time that Teenage dirtbag in Europe was in the charts , the Group had already left Liegey. He was replaced by Mike McCabeTeenage dirtbag remained In most countries their only major hit in the United Kingdom , but also the successor was pretty successful. This was the ErasureA little respect andcover took out third place in the u.k chart. The third single was the double A-side Leroy / Wannabe gangster. From the latest issue was in the London's Abbey Road Studio a new version recorded with Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden. This effort should, however, not much benefit because in England it was only a modest hit (23rd place) and in other countries, the song was hardly noticed.

In 2003 began to record their second Wheatus album Hand over your loved ones and the Group was supplemented by two fixed background vocals by Liz Brownand Kathryn Froggat , sister of Brendan b. and Peter Brown. By a conflict between Brendan b. Brown and Columbia Records record label was hardly of promotion for the new album, making it flopped. In England, only a small hit single American in Amsterdam , which is the last music chart listing for the Group was. The reason of the conflict with the record label was that Brown did not want miming during Wheatus' gig in Top of the Pops. The band left the label and founded the own label Montauk Mantis on. as a result, the majority of new material by the Group was for sale only through their own website, except in the United Kingdom and Ireland where Wheatus was still reasonably popular. As sneer at their previous record company got the third album of the group the title Suck Fony, a spoonerism of Fuck SonySuck Fony contained all the songs from the bad promoted album Hand over your loved ones, plus two new number. The same year also appeared the fourth album TooSoonMonsoon, with eleven new songs.

In 2005 the band was subject to many line-up that went on in subsequent years. Meanwhile, the original line-up only singer Brendan b. Brown about. The band still occurs and prior to the United States presidential election of 2008 , the Group took the song Change the world (Black precedent) on in support of presidential candidate Barack Obama.
