When the Levee Breaks is a blues song written and first sung by Kansas Joe McCoy and Memphis Minnie in 1929. It is written in response to the fuss over the flooding of the Mississippi.

Later (in 1971), the song is edited by the English rock band Led Zeppelin, for their fourth album.
