With a Little Help from My Friends "is a song by the British pop group The Beatles. The song was released in 1967 on the album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. [1it was written by the writing duo Lennon-McCartney for the Beatles drummer Ringo Starr. [2[3the song was covered in 1968 by Joe Cocker, who had a worldwide hit with the song. [4]

The idea for With a Little Help from My Friends was submitted by Paul McCartney. [5McCartney and John Lennon were working together to improve the number in Lennons House in WeybridgeEngland. [2]

The lyrics of the song is largely in the form of a conversation between Starr and the other three Beatles, in which they ask a question and Starr answers every time. [6So the three Beatles by John Lennon sing the written rule[5"What do you see when you turn out the light?", to which Starr responds with "I can't tell you, but I know it's mine".

At the request of Starr were the opening number, which first ushered in policies "What would you do if I sang out of tune? Would you stand up and throw tomatoes at me?", changed to"What would you think if I sang out of tune? Would you stand up and walk out on me?". Starr was afraid he would be pelted with each concert with different tomatoes. Something like that was happened when George Harrison himself during an interview had let slip that The Beatles of jelly beans. [3]

On 29 March 1967 The Beatles started in the Abbey Road Studios in London to the recordings of With a Little Help from My Friends. At the beginning of the recording session the song had the working title ' Bad Finger Boogie '. Because The Beatles had already decided that the opening track of the album, the song Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, about would go in With a Little Help from My Friends, it was decided that the song had to start with the line "Billy Shears". [7The Beatles names that day ten takes of the song, where they concentrated on the backing track. Afterwards, the vocals of Ringo Starr to the number added. [7]

The next day were through some guitaroverdubs, bass guitartambourine , backing vocals to the song added. [8]

With a Little Help from My Friends was on 1 June 1967 in the United Kingdom released on the album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. [9a day later, the album was released in the United States . [10In 1999, with the reissue of the film Yellow Submarine, the song appeared on Yellow Submarine Song track, the soundtrack to this film.
